Improved Manage Accounts functionality for Key Users
The Manage Accounts functionality for Key Users has been enhanced.
Now you have a helicopter view of your organisation's planned attendance at all forthcoming events and you can quickly manage attendance from the same screen. We have also improved Event reporting so you can report on future and previous events seperately.
Engagement and the job
One of the fundamental reasons for wanting to go to work is that what you do is inherently interesting. If it isn’t, there will be little motivation to stay. If it’s just economic necessity that keeps you hanging on, you’re certainly not motivated to go the extra mile.
Find out if you are ‘engaged’ with your organisation. Read the full article online now.
An interview with Mike Haffenden
In December 2009 Mike Haffenden met with Bruce Lewin of Four Groups for a review of 2009 and the implications for HR, along with a broader discussion on the future of the profession.
Talent Management Interest Group Update
As a follow-on to the CRF's March Workshop 'Managing Tensions in Talent', a small group of Member representatives met on July 9th to share their learnings and seek each others' advice.
We adopted an action learning approach, with each individual presenting their current Talent Management situation and the other group members drawing on their experience to offer support, challenge and ideas they might try. The ground covered included:
- who do you include in your definition of 'talent'
- what assessment models, tools and processes do you use
- how does culture and organisational mindset influence your approach
- how do you strike an effective balance between corporate policy and local business unit needs.
There was agreement that the meeting had been a valuable networking opportunity and, together with the approaches shared at the recent SIG Talent meeting, the CRF now has available a range of in-company talent management resources.
Results for the Quick Survey on spend on development
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Quick Survey into spending levels on development at the top.
The Survey has now closed and the results show an interesting spread of investment across all levels of spend as shown below:
Survey option | % of responses |
£499 or less | 5% |
£500 - £1,999 | 21% |
£2,000 - £4,999 | 32% |
£5,000 - £9,999 | 5% |
£10,000 - £19,999 | 11% |
£20,000 or greater | 26% |
It will be interesting to see whether spending patterns change over the remainder of the current financial year in response to the increasingly challenging financial outlook for business and the wider economy.
If you would like to comment on the results please submit your thoughts to the website.
Coaching Article
Whilst researching for a presentation and looking hard at some of the current practices in the coaching world, I found it very useful to refer to the CRF publication on Managing Coaching in Organisations as this ratified internal research.
The content from my presentation at the Retail Week Conference was subsequently referred to in an article in Human Resources where I referenced the CRF material.
I thought it would be useful to share the article, particularily in light of the CRF meeting planned for October 2008.
