2012 Programme
Designed around the theme of The Future of Work, we believe that this year’s events will address relevant issues occurring from an increasingly uncertain business landscape where organisations with foresight, commitment and an appreciation of robust and flexible business-led people strategies will succeed, at the expense of less aware organisations.
Our programme this year is a blend of leading-edge international thinking, combined with practical application on important topics.
We aim to explore new concepts, challenge complacency, share ideas and provide opportunities to consider practical solutions for your organisation.

Upcoming Events
Our goal is to be imaginative, creative and practical – and we have asked all contributors to be frank, challenging, constructive and participative. We will provide lively, informal learning environments which stimulate thinking and lead to practical outcomes.
The need for us to take a global perspective in our activities is reflected in our international faculty and is indicative of the interests and activities of member organisations.

Working Complex Change to Build Sustainable Future Results
Overview
Managing complex change calls for clear choices to be made as to which methodologies and methods to use. There are a number of OD practices that can be applied to managing change. This is a highlypractical workshop where we will apply the methods to case studies brought by participants.

Developing and Broadening Specialists
Overview
Many professionals attain a qualification and level of proficiency in their own field but advancement or development often requires the acquisition of managerial or business skills which are significantly different to those of their initial professions. This can create tension and conflict around the desire for advancement, the need to learn in unfamiliar territory, subsequent job satisfaction and an individual’s suitability for movement into a different role. This workshop will look at methods of selecting for enhanced roles, new skills and knowledge required and methods of on-going development.

Talent Management in an Age of Uncertainty
Overview
In his recent book, Talent On Demand, Peter Cappelli outlined a new way of thinking about talent management. These analytic techniques help us manage uncertainty in ways that minimise costs and risks. Over two days, Professor Cappelli will share his experience with CRF members in a way that is challenging, informing, constructive and practical.

Planning for Succession
Overview
Planning for succession is an age-old idea. It appears to be back on the corporate agenda again – despite or maybe because of the recent focus on talent management and ‘benchstrength’. Do organisations just have to show they consider succession as part of corporate governance, or is serious succession planning - the kind that leads to action - a process which is worth the effort?

The Future of Work
Overview
The world of work has been described as VUCA – volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. One of the core aspects of the 21st Century is the notion of risk and complexity. In the past century, wealth implied material abundance, though in the current one it will increasingly imply the ability to mitigate risk.
