Successful business partnering - Workshop - 10/09/2009

Who was it for?

HR Directors who are either seeking to raise the standards of Business Partnering or are re-designing their structures; and also for senior HR/OD/L&D professionals wishing to enhance their effectiveness.

Outline

A range of challenges and issues concerning senior line-facing HR and L&D roles were sketched out, and some recommended approaches aired.

We looked at a number of case studies from member organisations and looked for the answers to questions such as:

Successful Business Partnering: Post Meeting Review, September 2009

Highlights from our workshop examining the issue of Successful Business Partnering.

The Effective HR Business Partner

This definitive report examines fully the essential aspects of business partnering, the role of HR BPs and their work. Guided by interviews with senior HR leaders and experiences in several organisations, a key finding is that many organisations struggle with the Ulrich model, or to make business partnering work effectively - mainly because of interpretation, understanding, preparation, capability and implementation issues.  What then can organisations and HR do about it? Analysis of the key issues, useful practices and guidelines are provided to improve what your HR BPs do in these areas of business partnering - roles and structure, capabilities, key relationships, sourcing/ developing HR BPs and measurement/ evaluation of both HR effectiveness and HR BP contributions. Recommended actions to move forward are also provided.
