Why a Work Psychology Network?

At CRF we believe HR’s main purpose is to help the organisation to achieve its objectives. HR can do this through implementing practices and interventions which shape employee behaviour in ways that contribute to organisational performance.

Psychologists have studied behaviour at work since the early 1900s. Work psychology therefore provides much of the foundational scientific theory and evidence for HR practice.

The effectiveness of HR will be limited if we do not make good use of the scientific knowledge that underpins the practice.
This Work Psychology Network aims to close this gap.

What is it?

The Work Psychology Network provides access to the best available work psychology theory and evidence relevant to areas of HR activity and considers its implications for HR practice. It does this through:

  1. Publishing regular reports summarising theory and evidence
  2. Interactive events which present these reports and facilitate structured discussion of how the knowledge can be applied to your own practice.
  3. Online discussion forums to allow the conversations to continue between events.
  4. Providing access to HR-relevant Work Psychology reviews published in scientific journals plus practical implications to help you apply the science.

Who should join?

  • HR professionals and HR leaders with an interest in increasing their own and their function’s effectiveness through improving their understanding and application of Work Psychology.
  • Work Psychologists who work with HR functions and businesses who wish to refresh their knowledge of the scientific literature and improve their ability to apply it.

Benefits of joining

The overarching benefit is to increase your ability to help your organisation to achieve its objectives.

  • Expand your knowledge of the fundamental scientific theory and evidence underpinning practice.
  • Improve your skills in applying Work Psychology knowledge.
  • Develop Evidence-Based HR skills and critical thinking.
  • Work with and learn from peers about their HR challenges and how Work Psychology can be applied to meet these.
