Post Meeting Notes: Innovation: Growth from Uncertainty

  • May 6, 2022

The recent crisis has created levels of uncertainty seldom seen before. Work (how, where, who and what is done), technology, economics, education, geopolitics and society as a whole are changing at a pace that is hard to keep up with. However, this has the potential to be a catalyst for innovation, enabling organisations to meet evolving customer needs with new products and services.

Business leaders face an uncertainty dilemma: all possibilities come with uncertainty and the unexpected has possibility hidden within. But because we are wired to fear uncertainty we miss the possibilities.

This event addressed the question why crises spur innovation and how to replicate the successes in a more ‘stable’ environment. Attendees learned:

  • what conditions make some organisations more innovative than others and why some individuals embrace uncertainty, and seek opportunity for growth, while others freeze
  • HR’s role in creating the environment that enables high levels of innovation
  • to develop a tailored action plan identifying how to contribute to creating the right organisational environment for innovation to flourish.

These Post Meeting Notes summarise the day’s sessions.
