Education: A Manifesto for Change

  • July 8, 2021
  • United Kingdom
  • Online

This event has been redesigned to run virtually.

This year’s summer lecture will be given by award-winning speaker and globally renowned principal Richard Gerver.

Education is the most important factor determining the future of our children, our economy, our society and ultimately our planet. Richard uses his experience-driven insights to clarify the vision, thinking and processes we must adopt if we are to develop a system that prepares our young people for the future.

Bringing together his career as a former teacher, principal, school and university board member and government policy advisor, Richard explains exactly what skills, behaviours and attributes our children need to achieve success in the modern world.

During his session, Richard will specifically look to focus on three themes.

  1. Skills for the Future: Talked about a great deal, but what are they, are they really developed during formal education and what can we do to enhance them?
  2. Professional Learning for the next generation: Insights in to the next generation of employees and what we can do to get the best out of them?
  3. Preparing people to better deal with change and uncertainty: Our education system is still built on preparing people for high degrees of certainty and of course, COVID has highlighted how precarious that can be. What can we do to lead our people to be better at dealing with an unknown and unpredictable future?
