TLL Community Webinar: Selection Under the Spotlight: Applying Evidence in Practice

Explore what the latest scientific research tells us about effective selection and discuss how these insights are being applied and the barriers to improving the quality of selection decisions.

How effective are your selection processes at identifying the right people? How well are you applying the latest evidence around the predictors of high performance? Where could you improve the quality of decision making?

Professor Rob Briner and Gillian Pillans will lead a CRF Talent Leadership & Learning Community discussion on selection practices in organisations. We will explore what the latest scientific research tells us about effective selection and discuss how these insights are being applied and the barriers to improving the quality of selection decisions. We want to hear what is working in practice, what is proving difficult and which questions our research should address to be most useful to practitioners. Come ready to share examples, challenges and ideas.

Topics to be explored in the discussion include:

  • Defining what you are selecting for. How are you identifying the capabilities that matter for success, as roles and business needs change?
  • Understanding what works. What does the latest scientific research tell us about the predictive validity of different selection methods, and what are the barriers to applying these insights in practice?
  • Responding to AI and technology. Where are new tools adding value, and how is candidates’ use of AI changing your approach to assessment?
  • Making selection work for candidates. How are you balancing rigorous assessment with an efficient, engaging process that helps both sides make informed decisions?
  • Setting the research priorities. What are the biggest gaps between evidence and practice, and where would further research and practical guidance make the greatest difference?

You will leave with insights from peers and the opportunity to influence the focus of CRF’s research.
