WORK PSYCHOLOGY LEARNING NETWORK
Feedback and
Work Performance
In-Person | Tuesday 22 September 2026
London, UK
9.00 – 14.00 GMT
Event
Accurate and timely feedback is essential for work performance – but how often does it actually happen in practice?
Feedback is a complex topic. First, the term itself covers a wide range of meanings and forms, each with different implications for how work performance is shaped. Second, in certain jobs – especially knowledge work – long timeframes and indirect links between behaviours and outcomes can make it challenging to provide accurate, timely feedback. And third, feedback can sometimes be counterproductive – leading to lower work performance.
Attendees will:
- Understand the different meanings and types of feedback.
- Gain insight into how work psychology can explain the role of feedback in performance.
- Identify how some forms of feedback may do more harm than good.
- Learn about the accuracy and value of different types of feedback and feedback techniques.
- Share their experiences and learn from others, discussing how the theories and evidence can be applied to improving feedback in their own contexts.
