Work Psychology
Work Psychology Network Event: Assessing Job Performance
What does good job performance really look like, and how should organisations assess it?
Performance is about more than completing core tasks. Behaviours such as helping colleagues, adapting to change and applying discretionary effort can also make an important contribution. Yet many traditional approaches to performance appraisal are unreliable and can give an incomplete picture of how someone is really performing. This session will explore how job performance can be defined more effectively, which methods are best suited to assessing it and how organisations can use performance information more meaningfully.
Attendees will:
- Explore the different dimensions of job performance beyond core task performance.
- Understand the limitations of common performance appraisal practices.
- Consider how job performance can be defined and measured more accurately.
- Review different methods for assessing employee performance.
- Explore how performance information can be used to support better decisions and performance improvement.
