Sustainability is no longer a ‘nice-to-have' – it is now a top priority for governments, businesses, and society. Government action, public / customer opinion, the business costs of climate change, and potential commercial advantage mean that companies have to address sustainability now. This requires applying a sustainability lens to products and services, social practices, employee practices, and supply chains. And because sustainability is a supranational issue – requiring shared objectives and cooperative action across the globe – multinational organisations are in a strong position to influence progress.

From stakeholder engagement to ethics to people policies and practices, we believe HR has an important role to play in helping organisations become more sustainable. But is HR equipped for the task? Do HR leaders have the highly technical knowledge required to navigate and make a success of sustainability? If not, what do they need to do to become equipped? This event and accompanying research report, sponsored by CRF Partner Hult EF Corporate Education, will explore the complexities of sustainable business, its challenges and rewards, and HR’s role at the heart of the agenda.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand global organisations' influence on sustainability and HR's role in shaping their organisation's impact.
  • Explore key aspects of sustainability (in products/services, supply chain, operations) and the management of stakeholder relationships (with employees, customers, financial investors, communities in which the company operates, and supply chain actors).
  • Learn how peers are applying a sustainability lens to key areas of HR, such as attraction and retention, Employee Value Proposition, reward, policies, performance management, and employee experience.
  • Consider what impact you can have as an HR leader on your organisation's sustainability strategy and the skills you will need to influence the outcomes.

Pre-event Partner Masterclasses

Tuesday 31 October, 9.00 – 9.50am
These two pre-event masterclasses, hosted by CRF Partners, are included within the event but require additional registration.

IN-PERSON MASTERCLASS FROM ACHIEVE BREAKTHROUGH:
Culture vs Data – How HR Can Unlock the Sustainability Agenda through People Engagement and Leadership Mindset

The sustainability revolution is creating a whole new set of data challenges, from measurement to reporting to justifying financial investment with new software. Whilst consulting services and AI can help to make sense of this complexity, it is the organisational culture and mindset that will ultimately be decisive, yet is still often overlooked. As HR professionals, how do we embed a new culture that can identify and change the unconscious behaviours and assumptions that keep us trapped in the status quo?

IN-PERSON MASTERCLASS FROM MERCER:
HR’s New Purpose: Saving The World

In this masterclass, we will explore the critical role that HR plays in driving sustainability and ESG within organisations. We will discuss HR's essential role both outward, in supporting business transformation towards sustainability, and inward, in improving HR practices towards making good work a reality for all employees. We'll explore strategies for promoting fairness and well-being in the workplace, creating a more human-centric future of work, and building a more sustainable workforce. We will also provide tools and resources for participants to implement these practices in their own organisations. By the end of the session, you will have a clear understanding of how HR can lead the way towards building a more sustainable future for all.
