This invitation-only event will feature a presentation of the Strong Foundations: Evidence-Based HR research project to senior HR leaders in the UAE with the opportunity to network and discuss the research and other current issues through the morning.
Today's business environment is coloured by uncertainty and risk. It is all too easy to make the wrong decisions at the wrong time, with potentially high-stakes consequences for organisations. Still, the HR function too often continues to make subjective decisions based on a 'gut feeling' or 'hunch'. Evidence-based HR refers to a process of problem definition, evidence-gathering, and assessment that HR professionals and teams can use to improve the quality of their decision-making and delivery.
In the first of a two-part series, this briefing and accompanying research report will explore evidence-based HR (EBHR). What are the components of EBHR, and what do HR professionals know and think about it? To what extent are organisations already doing EBHR, or some elements of it? How can the ongoing development of people analytics be deployed to support EBHR? And for those organisations that wish to harness the power of an evidence-based approach to HR, what are the barriers to – and potential facilitators of – EBHR?

Over the past decade EBHR has developed in various ways, though there is no doubt that it could be developed further. CRF decided to revisit the topic by producing two new reports. This first report provides a stock take of where we are now by examining what has changed since 2011. And this research will form the basis of this research briefing.
Evidence-based practice is nothing new or complicated or mind-blowing. It will do something most exciting, interesting, and important: It will help you to make better decisions.
The idea of evidence-based HR has been strongly influenced by evidence-based approaches to other disciplines, including medicine, and is a direct development from the emerging concept of evidence-based management. Access CRF's full report here.
